I'd like to figure out goals for these factions so I can set up Dungeon World-like fronts and move action along in the absence of PC action.įor the Spider, I'm recasting Nezznar as Nar the aranea who wants the Forge of Spells for Magical Power. Minor Factions: Phandolin factions (Zhentarim, Harpers, Emerald, Lords Alliance, Order of the Gauntlet), Cult of the Dragon, Venomfang, Dwarven explorers, Many Arrows Orcs, Red Wizards Major Factions: The Spider (Blackmaw tribe, Redbrands, dopplegangers), Orcs (Bloody Talon refugees from Icespire, Talos Anchorites), Cryovain My problem is that the factions are relatively undeveloped, and I want them to make sense. One of them (rolled randomly) turned out to be the mimic and much hilarity ensued. They ended up running into the barrel room fleeing some annoyed gnomes and tried to pry open the barrels to hide inside. So far they've done the first two job board quests from DoIP (Umbrage Hill and Gnomengarde) and succeeded. I'm using exploration and morale/reaction rules from Into the Unknown, which is a fantastic ruleset. I've taken notes on all the factions and NPCs and combined them together. There's a combined map of all the sites out there that makes this easier. I'm running a 5E campaign starting at 1st level and combining Lost Mine of Phandelver and Dragon of Icespire Peak.
